    Where the numbers come from

    Addresses are pinned by the U.S. Census geocoder, and every distance is a real driving distance on real roads — not a straight line. Out here that matters: two stops a mile apart across the Pamunkey can be a 35‑minute drive. Anything the geocoder can't find, you can pin by hand.
